Malibu Wine Safaris

It had been seven months since giving birth to my baby boy, and as many mothers know, it's pretty difficult to sneak in some friend time. I had just found my lovely babysitter and was able to get away for the day with my friend Andrea. I am so lucky to have her as a friend. She's always up for new adventures, and we both have an intense love for travel. Every year, we, along with another friend, take turns deciding where we want to go. We've been to New York City, Portland, and Orlando together, and soon we will be paying a visit to Austin. We kind of had to improvise this time around since I didn't want to take a long trip away from the baby just yet. We eventually decided on wine tasting, and it ended up being the perfect place to pamper ourselves.

Malibu Wine Safaris is where we chose to be, and let me tell you, we had so much fun!  The 1,000 acre vineyard is tucked away in the beautiful hills of Malibu and combines wine tasting with safari tours, which I think makes this place stand out from the other hundreds of wineries you can choose from in Southern California.

They offer a variety of different historical jeep style tours that take you around the grounds while offering wine tasting, lunch, and a chance to see and feed some of the exotic animals they have on the ranch. We chose the 1.5 hour giraffe tour, which was about $100 bucks and included tastings of 6 different wines, cheese, crackers, and an exotic animal meet and greet.

Tours range in price from $65 to $180 bucks, so if you are not looking to spend much, they have a variety of options to choose from. I would definitely recommend this place for a couples day trip or friends trip. It's a great place to unwind and relax without having to travel too far from the L.A.
